Offers a straightforward yet practical introduction to social-science research methods and techniques, especially in economics and sociology. Covers main approaches, stages and decisions in a research project\u2014formulating questions and hypotheses, selecting sources, data types and methodological strategies, ethical principles and interpreting results. The aim is not only to learn tools but to foster a constructive, proactive attitude toward complex social problems and the need for transdisciplinary approaches. Throughout the course, concrete examples are discussed and key institutions for social-science studies\u2014such as the Spanish Centre for Sociological Research (CIS), Eurostat, the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Eurobarometer and the World Values Survey\u2014are presented.
Se abordan los principales enfoques, fases y decisiones que intervienen en un proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n: desde la formulaci\u00f3n de preguntas e hip\u00f3tesis, la selecci\u00f3n de fuentes, los tipos de datos y estrategias metodol\u00f3gicas, hasta los principios \u00e9ticos y la interpretaci\u00f3n de los resultados. El objetivo no es solo conocer herramientas, sino adquirir una actitud constructiva y proactiva ante la complejidad de problemas sociales y de la necesidad de aplicar enfoques transdisciplinares en la investigaci\u00f3n social.

Provides a hands-on, applied introduction to fundamental statistical and econometric methods for analysing economic phenomena. Combines descriptive statistics (measures of central tendency and dispersion, graphical representation) and inferential statistics (distributions, hypothesis testing) with econometric modelling techniques: simple and multiple linear regression (assumptions, estimation, diagnostics and extensions such as non-linearity or dummy variables) and panel data analysis using fixed and random effects.
